Luz Liebeskind
Chief Financial Officer , UJA-Federation of New York
Ms. Liebeskind is the Chief Financial Officer for UJA-Federation of New York.
In her role, she is responsible for UJA-Federation's financial management and operations, including overseeing an annual budget of approximately $225 million, endowment of over $1 billion, and pension plan serving UJA-Federation and nonprofit network employees. The following departments report to Luz: Accounting and Finance, Investments, Administrative Services, and Facilities and Real Estate.
For 15 years, Ms. Liebeskind served as the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Treasurer for RiverSpring Living, a leading nonprofit dedicated to helping older adults, which operates the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, middle income independent living, affordable senior housing communities, and a managed long-term care plan. During her tenure, Ms. Liebeskind played an integral role in helping to grow RiverSpring Living from a $120 million to a $1.1 billion annual operating budget. She oversaw all financial operations, treasury, capital budget, and investment functions for the organization as well as Human Resources, Purchasing, and IT.
Prior to joining RiverSpring, Ms. Liebeskind served as Associate Controller for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she was responsible for the financial reporting of a $200 million operating budget and accounting for the Museum’s $3 billion endowment portfolio. Ms. Liebeskind was previously the Corporate Controller at Montefiore Medical Center and she began her career at Ernst and Young where she was a Senior Manager in the firm’s healthcare and non-profit practice.
Ms. Liebeskind is a Certified Public Accountant and possesses a BBA in Accounting and an MS in Finance from the Bernard M. Baruch College of the City University of New York. She is also a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the New York State Society of CPA’s.
Ms. Liebeskind has served on the board of the Baruch College Fund since 2000, including serving as its Treasurer from 2000-2011. She is Chair of its Finance Committee and is also a member of its Audit and DEI and Governance committees. She lives in Syosset, NY with her husband and two daughters.
