Heather Y. Anichini, Ed.D. is the CEO of The Chicago Public Education Fund, a 24-year-old nonprofit that partners with Chicago Public Schools.
The Fund team invests in the educators leading in the city’s 650 public schools and supports policy changes that better serve the more than 300,000 students learning in grades PreK-12. With Heather’s leadership, the team has raised more than $90 million and has improved principal quality and retention across the district.
Heather began her career in education on Chicago’s West Side, working for a nonprofit based in a high school and teaching middle school. She also had the opportunity to lead strategic leadership initiatives within Chicago Public Schools and in partnership with districts nationwide.
Heather serves on the advisory board for Teach For America Chicago/Northwest Indiana and mentors several new executive directors in Chicago. In addition, Heather is a certified teacher, administrator, and superintendent in Illinois. She regularly teaches at the college level, usually for aspiring superintendents.
