Glenda Bernhardt

CEO, Greensboro Jewish Federation

Glenda Bernhardt currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Greensboro Jewish Federation, an organization which builds community among the Jewish people of Greensboro and promotes the welfare of the Jewish people in our community, in Israel and worldwide.

Prior to stepping into this role in October of 2023, she served as the Chief Executive Officer of Freedom School Partners and the Executive Director of Temple Israel, both in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a combined nine years. 

Prior to her executive leadership positions, Glenda was a fundraising and development professional at Teen Health Connection and the Junior League of Charlotte. Before this, she spent many years in Jewish communal service, working at multiple Jewish Federations and Hillels.  

Glenda has served on the Boards of many community agencies, most recently serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte where she Co-Chaired the Outshine Hate initiative, the Board of Directors for the Foundation for the Charlotte Jewish Community, Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Levine Jewish Community Center, and Chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte’s Community Relations Council. Glenda was selected as one of North Carolina’s 50 Most Influential Women (Class of 2024) by the Mecklenburg Times, one of Charlotte’s Most Admired CEOs (Class of 2023) by the Charlotte Business Journal, Charlotte’s Forty Over 40 (Class of 2022) by The Charlotte Ledger and Forty Under 40 (Class of 2016) by the Charlotte Business Journal, in recognition of her professional and community leadership. She was a member of Class 21 of the American Leadership Forum and she was a member of Leadership Charlotte Class 43.

Glenda earned a Masters Degree in Social Work and Certificate in Jewish Communal Service and Judaic Studies from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her undergraduate degree is a BA in Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology from Ohio Wesleyan University. Glenda is married to Brian Bernhardt and they have three children: Jake, Jonah and Sophia.
