Emily Bourgeois

Public Affairs Director, Shalom Austin

Emily Bourgeois is the inaugural Public Affairs Director for Shalom Austin. She joined the organization from the Religious Action Center at the Union for Reform Judaism where she was the RAC-TX Organizer. There, she led RAC-TX to wins expanding health insurance coverage to postpartum women and organizing against school boards in Texas hiring unlicensed chaplains in place of guidance counselors. She has extensive experience in public policy and community organizing. She is passionate about making the world a better place and empowering each of us to take an active role in shaping Democracy. Emily lives in Austin with her partner Elizabeth, dog Cal, and cat Fran.
