Rachel Nelson
Director of Educational Initiatives & Associate Director of Community Relations, Jewish Federation of Greater Portland
Rachel Nelson is the Director of Educational Initiatives & Associate Director of Community Relations at the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland. She focuses on addressing antisemitism in K–12 schools by collaborating with parents, educators, students, and district leaders. She also leads interfaith initiatives, fostering meaningful connections between Jewish and other faith/ethnic communities, as well as climate initiatives. In her educational initiatives role, she facilitates professional development opportunities for educators working in the Jewish community and works to create pathways for all families to find their place in the Jewish community. Rachel is the proud parent of three wonderful children with her husband Jason. She holds a bachelor's degree in Family and Human Services from the University of Oregon and a BLit in Hebrew Letters and a MAED in Education with a Focus in Experiential Education from American Jewish University.
