Senior Assistant Dean for External Relations; Clinical Associate Professor; Director & Rosso Fellow, The Fund Raising School

Serving as Assistant Dean for External Relations at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Bill Stanczykiewicz oversees communications and fundraising while directing The Fund Raising School. He also serves as a core faculty member, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses on philanthropy, fundraising, and leadership.

Bill’s professional career spans the philanthropic, public, and private sectors. For 17 years, he served as President & CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, a statewide nonprofit devoted to healthy youth development and academic achievement. Prior to that, he held a leadership position in the Indianapolis Mayor’s Office as Policy Director for Community Renewal, where he designed and implemented The Front Porch Alliance.

He has also served in public administration, including as a staff member on the United States Senate Subcommittee on Children and Families, and as a board member on Indiana’s State Workforce Innovation Council and Education Roundtable.

Bill’s 10-year media career earned him recognition as “Indiana Sportscaster of the Year.” His media expertise has been featured throughout his career, including appearances on ABC’s Good Morning America, ESPN, and numerous national and state newspaper op-eds, as well as radio and television interviews.

His honors include being named a “Sagamore of the Wabash”, one of Indiana’s highest civic awards, and a “Next Generation Leader” by the Rockefeller Foundation.

Bill’s community service includes leadership roles with the Super Bowl and NCAA Final Four host committees, as well as board service for a national education foundation, a regional food bank, a regional family-serving ministry, an inner-city youth center, and his local community foundation.

He earned a doctoral degree in interdisciplinary leadership, with a dissertation focused on increasing board engagement in fundraising. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Additionally, he has completed postgraduate studies at Vanderbilt University and The Fund Raising School.
