Vice President of Community Relations, Jewish Federations of North America

Evan R. Bernstein is the Vice President of Community Relations for Jewish Federations.

In his role, Bernstein leads a growing focus to strengthen and support Federations’ community relations efforts across North America. His community relations team aims to help communities strengthen civic and interfaith engagement, counter rising antisemitism. Prior to joining Jewish Federations, Bernstein served as CEO of Community Security Service (CSS). While there he developed formal partnership agreements across the Federation system and overall Jewish community including the Secure Community Network and the Community Security Initiative of New York.

Bernstein has over 25 years of nonprofit experience that includes serving as Vice President of the Northeast Division for the ADL and as the state director for AIPAC in Arizona. In 2019, The Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project of New York honored Bernstein with their annual Unity Award for his work in long time work in community relations and combatting antisemitism. He recently was listed on The Algemeiner “Jewish 100” list of people who positively influence Jewish life globally. He earned a bachelor's degree and played lacrosse at Western Connecticut State University and earned a master's degree from Harvard University.
