John P. Behringer

John is a Risk Consulting Partner aligned to the Financial Service Industry Group with 25 years of experience. 

He serves as the National Financial Institutions Sector Leader for RSM and as the Risk Consulting Financial Services Industry Leader.  John has worked exclusively with financial service companies throughout his career with a focus on commercial banks, both privately and publicly held, mortgage companies, investment companies and broker dealers.  His client portfolio consists of commercial banks, other state and federally chartered depository institutions and non-depository lenders with a concentration of publicly traded community and regional financial institutions ranging in total asset size from $3 billion to more than $100 billion.  Additionally, John has significant experience serving some of the largest global financial institutions through the delivery of credit risk and regulatory advisory engagements. 

John leverages his deep subject matter expertise in the areas of credit and operational risk, controls over financial reporting, M&A transactions and remediation and resolution of regulatory matters to assist clients.  He manages the delivery of outsourced and co-soured internal audit, credit review and credit administration and regulatory compliance engagements.  Through his leadership roles John consults with clients nationwide on matters that include financial reporting topics, internal controls implementation and remediation, regulatory compliance, and M&A advisory. 

John is regularly invited to present at industry and professional conferences on current banking and financial services topics given his recognized experience and expertise in the industry.
